January 1 - July 31, 2008:  Climate Update: Temperature and Precipitation

The U.S. and High Plains regional maps shown below illustrate the temperature departures from normal for
the time period January 1, 2008 through July 31, 2008. The green, blue and purple colors indicate below
normal temperatures and the yellow, brown and red colors indicate above normal temperatures for this time
period. Nebraska, much of the upper Midwest and much of the mountainous west has experienced, so
far this year, below normal temperatures.

precipitation during the time period January 1, 2008 through July 31, 2008. The green, blue and purple colors
indicate above normal precipitation totals and the yellow, brown and red colors indicate below normal precipitation
totals for this time period. Only a small portion of the country, which also happens to include Nebraska, has had
above normal precipitation for this time period.
